Wine Not Try This

From the world of whiskey I come, twirling in on the rough bite whiskey has in the back of your throat, from the smell of a good whiskey that by merely whiffing it you can taste it, and from the love of the way the ice sounds when it cracks from the pour over of the whiskey as if applauding its being draped in its amber goodness. I can't say where my love affair with whiskey came from, but suffice it to say, I don't see it going away any time soon.

Now, imagine my utter and complete excitement, as I equally grow my love for wine, when I saw, beautifully sitting there amidst hundreds of bottles of cabernets in their rightful spots at the local store, all vying for my attention, a wine aged in a whiskey barrel for 3 months?! (insert a jaw dropping memento for this lover of adventure) And that is exactly what I felt as I picked up the first bottle of wine like this that I was to try. I felt as if embarking on an adventure to a place I had never been, nor thought possible. Alright, may be a bit of an exaggeration, but I hope to come across as a woman obsessed with finding the new and exciting in order to review it here for you all!

"There must be always wine and fellowship or we are truly lost." - Ann Fairbairn

The first wine of this exciting category I was to try was from the brand Batch, a cabernet sauvignon No. 198 California Crafted 2014.

I was hooked, immediately intrigued and captivated. I have said before in several of my other reviews, that I highly hold my self to the standard of blissfully unaware of so many great alcohols out there, and mainly for this reason; I relish in the idea of always being able to find something new, because I don't know everything. So, therefore, everything is exciting to me. This wine was none to the exception. It was fantastic and ultimately it delivered on it's heightening expectations. It breathed life into a new corner of my curiosity in the world of great wines. I didn't know that this marriage was possible, but we're making it work, with a lot of communication and sit down time together, barrel aged red wines and I are sailing through our early years of this relationship without a hinderance.

I was able to purchase this wine at Vons, and it cost me approximately $14. I have also recently tried:

Robert Mondavi - Private Selection Cabernet, cost was also $14 and purchased at Ralphs (a local grocery store)

Apothic- Inferno - This is a small batch and a limited release- found at Trader Joe's for $10- warning, the alc/vol is high on this one

I hope you are as excited as I am to go out and try these amazing wines. They are a game changer for me, as I hope the same for you.
